SASEBO, Japan (Feb. 9, 2024) — Mineman 2nd Class William Fang, from Brooklyn, New York and assigned to the Avenger-Class mine countermeasures ship USS Pioneer (MCM 9), speaks to Brig. Gen. Trevor Hall, Commanding General, 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade and deputy commander of Task Force 76/3, about the ship’s mine countermeasure capabilities in Sasebo, Japan Feb. 9, 2024. Task Force 76/3 is an operational command based out of Okinawa and is responsible for conducting expeditionary warfare operations to support a full range of U.S. Seventh Fleet theater contingencies, ranging from humanitarian assistance and disaster relief to full combat operations.
